Isiah Thomas Doesn’t Support Cancer

Yes! All JUCO team!

Yes! All JUCO team!

This story has been thrown around this week because Isiah is being a baby bitch for threatening to pull out of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament.  The coach of Florida International knew that the team would play either Ohio State or North Carolina in the upcoming tournament.  Depending on the team they play, FIU will play the other team in the same tournaments next year.

Isiah threw a major hissy fit when the schedule was released and FIU had to play North Carolina in its first game rather than Ohio State.  While FIU is going through a major rebuilding phase of its basketball program, and I mean MAJOR, Thomas probably didn’t want to get embarrassed by the Tar Heels his first game, opting for a team of a little less caliber.

Rick Giles, the president of the Gazelle Group who puts on the tournaments every year says that FIU signed a contract to play either team and doesn’t expect Thomas to break his contract obligations.  Obviously, Giles doesn’t know Isiah Thomas….

While we expect North Carolina to ultimately play FIU and beat them on a massive scale, it won’t take anything away from Thomas’ already tarnished career as a coach and GM after his basketball days.  Also why would anyone go to FIU for basketball even (especially) if you have Isiah coaching.  The athletics suck, the academic suck and the university suck as a whole.
